Spartak Dermendjiev – PARIS
“THERE ARE NO HAPPY BULGARIANS" exposition of sculptural portraits in Sofia City Gallery 2001 AD (happy are only those without conscience and the crazies) “There are no happy Bulgarians” means that “today” we are not happier than “yesterday”. Bulgarian “democracy” conceals a cynical capitalism (economically inefficient, immoral and illegal). The economy is not market, it is party. The society is not civil, it is party. The Bulgarian democracy – dictatorship of organized meanness. The moral of the Bulgarian democracy - worship and obedience to the power and compensatory desire for lynch the weak. The hymn of the Bulgarian democracy sounds whit a fascist falsetto. Do raised Christ, Bulgarian? For me - not! And for you? Motto of the exposition and my works are not bound by anything the portrayed persons. Spartak Dermendjiev 2001 |
